Well it looks like Tammy got in the last word for the whole year! Chris is probably reaching middle age Tracey says a parakeet will live 15 to 20 years in captivity. I havent looked it up so I will take her word for it.
So here we are and another new year. It will probably be Feb. or March before I start writing the year 2007 without first flubbing it or having to think about it.

And you have the first words of the new year!
I didnt know parakeets lived that long. I also didnt know that goldfish won at the Pumpkin Festival would live six years and get as big as my hand! (and theyre still kicking!)

I was surprised at how large goldfish can get and how fast they multiply. Tracey put six little goldfish in her pond and they grew very big and fast. We have at least twenty to thirty at any one time. The heron eats the big ones and the frogs eat the little ones and the population stays about the same. Just enough to eat the mosquito larvae and that is their job. What mosquitoes the goldfish dont get; the dragonflies, bluebirds and barn swallows finish off (with an occasional bat).

Your pond sounds sooooo cool!
Andys goldfish are in a fish tank with a Plecostomus. Theyd probably get bigger if he would keep increasing the size of the tank. But, enough is enough! He has 1 orange goldfish and 1 white one. I think he started with 5 fish, but only 2 survived this long. Now they seem to be related to the energizer bunny! Id like to have some pretty tropical fish to look at, but cant until the goldfish die.

In the Spring I accept donations into my pond. If you want to set your goldfish free (with all the benefits and RISKS that entails) I would gladly accept donations when the water warms up. In fish tanks average life expectancy of a goldfish is 5 to 10 years but there are some reported cases of them living over 40 years.

Im sure Ill be a lucky one and have them live forever!
Andy would never part with those fish! Id love it though! Im sure the heron would love them too!
Ill tell Andy that you take donations, but dont hold your breath waiting on the arrival of his 2 goldfish!
