Jack Jumper Ants
These carnivorous ants have a lethal venom and excellent eyesight to help it take down larger prey, like larger wasps. They have a painful sting that can cause humans (who are allergic) to go into anaphylactic shock.

Tracey called me on her way home from Macomb yesterday and asked me to meet her at #Avanti in Pekin for supper. I rode my #Piaggio scooter which almost turned out to be a big mistake.

They had sprayed some kind of oil goo on Allentown Road and it was like trying to balance the scooter on wet snot. What a slippery drive for the mile long stretch up to Springfield Road.

On the way home I had to slowly follow a maintenance truck over the same slippery stretch. There was a guy in the back of the truck unreeling a red string down the middle of the road. I assume this was to mark where some part of the future new surface would be paved.

No measuring, just by guess and by gosh this string wavered down the middle of the road. So why bother if they are just guessing? Couldn’t they just guess where to put down whatever the string was supposed to be marking?

I started falling asleep around 10:00 last night so I wasn’t up when A&B returned from their school trip to Chicago. I had to make a call of nature around 1 a.m. and made a detour by the window to see the car in the driveway so I know they got home.

I hope to talk with them this morning before they leave for school. I sure hope they had a great time with no problems whatever!
