Tracey and I decided to be electricians yesterday. We have a yard light that used to turn on and off controlled by a motion sensor photo cell combination which would turn the light on for a few minutes if it detected motion in the dark. It quit working properly a long time ago.
We also have a ceiling light / fan in the sun room that used to work on a remote control. The remote light switch went kaput a long time ago and we just used the pull chain on the lights until some unknown person yanked the pull chain clear out of the switch.
First Tracey and I got on our cell phones and she flipped breaker switches while I made sure she had the right circuit. She managed to hit the right switch for each light first time.
We took the yard light apart and wired it to just stay on all the time. The fixture in the sun room was a lot more work. We had to take the light assembly apart to get at the pull chain switch and then had to take the entire fan down to get at the remote control unit.
We then went to Menards to buy the new parts, spent an hour at Stake-N-Shake waiting for lunch and then back home to rewire the new switches and put the fixture back on the ceiling and the light assembly back on the base of the fan. And Tracey did most of the work putting it all back together!
Alan, Gloria, Tom, DD, Mom, Tracey and I went to the Cracked Barrel for supper then everybody but Tom went to Moms trailer afterward. Among other things we had a lengthy discussion about various workplace insanity and safety issues.
