It suddenly got very quiet around the house yesterday afternoon. Ben left around 4 p.m. to go back to Edwardsville and Kiefer left shortly after that.

Tracey and I will be leaving in about an hour or so to take the #FordEscape in for a recall. Something to do with the door handles not latching properly.
And another about the ceiling canopy which I presume is an air bag of some sort. We will leave it there for an oil change and a once over to get it ready for vacation.

Great day yesterday! Good food and good company made for a wonderful birthday celebration. Ashley really surprised me with a cake.
I told my dad - no cake! I dont like store bought cakes and/or most frostings. I didnt want a cake that had a lot of pieces leftover for me to carry home, set on the kitchen counter, then throw it away once it was moldy.
So he bought me cookies: Chocolate chip with chunks of chocolate and macadamia nut ones (which were my favorite). Cookies are liked by all and usually disappear way before mold could even think about setting in. Legel trait - cookie monsters?
Anyway, I was so surprised when Ashley came carrying out this hidden cake. I 3 layer homemade German chocolate cake with homemade frosting! It was sooooooooo good! (Guess whats on my breakfast menu this morning with my coffee!)
The kids also gave me some really cute things to add to my fairy garden out back. Andy gave me a cute Toad and Tortoise Inn to put in the fairy garden. The doorways are big enough for real toads and tortoises but I guess in fairyland they wouldnt be very big anyway.
Ashley gave me a cute birdhouse and birds for my garden. A couple of students a year ago gave me some things for a fairy garden as an end of the year teacher gift. So, I thought Id start a fairy garden. Its a work in progress, but its something fun to do - and its outside - my favorite place to be!
Thanks again for all of the birthday wishes. It was a fun day.

This little graphic was posted on Facebook recently. One comment included the words, Im tired of your polarizing political posts.
I had to take a second look at the graphic thinking I must have missed some outlandish accusation. Nope.
Just a quote from a GQP Senator and a chart explaining the facts of the matter. So the conclusion I come to is that even the truth seems to be an accusation to GQP supporters? I must be missing something when the lie is considered acceptable and the truth is polarizing. No wonder our country is screwed up and our government dysfunctional.
