#AssociatedBank I check my financial accounts regularly online. I noticed an odd transaction on my home mortgage account. I had received a $79.95 credit with the cryptic explanation “DEBIT PROT”. Although I have occasionally had mysterious anomalies that required correction this may be the first time it was in my favor. It still bothered me so I fired off a message to the bank inquiring just what this was about. I received a reply ——

“I do apologize but unfortunately it looks like we will just need to look a little bit further into this payment for you. Once we are able to find more answers on this, we will contact you with information we have found.”

I appreciate the prompt reply but, again, I do NOT feel all warm and fuzzy when a financial institution appears to be just as puzzled as I am about why a sum of money is transacted. They appear to know nothing about it or why they did it.
