And the stone marker says 1766...the rest of the story...Pennsylvania didnt recognize the marker for 20 years. And shows what I know, I thought the Mason-Dixon line was south of us.

According to this site my original post has the year wrong by quite a lot!
And I agree with you on it being south of us. I always thought of it like this below

So I looked up the 39th parallel and it actually is across the middle of Illinois #MasonDixon (Part of a longer thread)

So Im not quite as ignorant as I first thought. Thanks for the edumacation. I had already googled Mason-Dixon line which told me the surveying was done in 1763 and 1767 but didnt lead me to the extension. Probably should have read a little deeper.

I think I also had it in my head that Mason-Dixon was similar to Hatfields and McCoys. Probably because of the slavery thing. I really should have paid closer attention in school, SOME of what they tried to teach me was accurate.

I spend WAY too much time on Google looking this kind of stuff up. And lately, the past few years anyway, I find myself looking up stuff I know Ive looked up before. The other day I bookmarked up a site (computer stuff) only to discover I already had the site in my bookmarks. Oh well.
