[Post Dated] This morning we got the earliest start of the trip so far. We skipped the breakfast room again and were on the road by 6 a.m. continuing our habit of stopping for gas and coffee at the 1st opportunity. This was at Elma, WA.
A while later we stopped at the McDonalds in Long Beach, WA. for some breakfast sandwiches. There were lots of cafes along the way but not too many we could recommend judging by the exterior.
We traveled through the forests and along the sea on Rt. 101 south until we reached Seaview, WA. Tracey walked the beach there for a bit and got her feet wet. It was only about 60 degrees out with a chilly breeze so we didnt stay long.
There was a concrete stairway leading down to the beach with restrooms at the bottom of the stairs. There was a guy hosing the sand off the steps and he was getting water everywhere. I managed to get past him without getting soaked but it was a near thing.
We continued to drive south into Oregon and stopped at a few overlooks and beach access points. Tracey took some pictures but we havent seen them as yet.
The drive into Portland was a nightmare of traffic. It took us over an hour to go the last 20 miles to our hotel.
Tomorrow I drop Tracey off at the Portland airport. She will fly back to the Moline airport to retrieve our car and drive home. I will continue on to the Super 8 in Coeur DAlene, ID.
On another note, my review of the Super 8 in Sioux Falls did finally get approved. I was sure they had dumped it but they just took out the word witch to describe the girl at the counter.
