#Memories#Hawaii My visit to history.com resulted in the Hawaii becomes 50th state post above and also jogged a memory. When I was in early grade school (This would have been the early to mid 60s.) the teacher told us about the flag and that it had 50 stars.
Later, I think it was during recess of that day, there was a small group of kids who had the flag at the front of the room stretched out and they were counting the stars. The teacher returned to the room and there was quite a clamor because there were only 48 stars!
She explained that the flag was an old one and didnt have the stars representing Alaska and Hawaii. My first experience with how outdated some schools can be.
Come to think of it a similar thing happened a few years later when we found an old world globe that didnt look at all like the maps in our geography book. I would wonder if that globe is still there but the school itself is now gone.
Nothing but thunder clouds here today so we wont be seeing the eclipse. I expect it to get darker over the next hour but it wont be as impressive as it would on a sunny day. Oh Well.

The clouds have broken up a little. Not a full view of the eclipse but much better than a while ago. We wont see a total eclipse but enough to shed some eerie light and shadows.
