In 2015, Kimberly Jean (Bailey) “Kim” Davis, the Rowan County, KY, clerk jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, was released after five days behind bars, emerging to a hero’s welcome from thousands of supporters.

She was jailed for contempt of court. Had she gone to trial for her crimes she could have languished in jail longer. Instead she was a heroine to the homophobic crowd. #Homophobe #KimDavis
