Yesterday was quite a long hot and humid day. The installation of the new #HeatPump began at 8:30 a.m. and it was 4 p.m. before they were finished and gone. It was 86°F and 57% humidity in the trailer and took all evening to get cooled back down.

I was disappointed that they did not install the WiFi programmable thermostat as I had agreed with the salesman. So I didn’t pay them the remaining 50% of the cost agreed upon.

Otherwise it seems to do the job it is supposed to do. It is now 72°F and 46% humidity. I would prefer to get the humidity lower but that will probably take another day.

I want the better thermostat so we can control the humidity as well as the temperature. It may take a while to get this sorted out.

The saga continues with our new #HeatPump system. After agreeing they would install the top of the line Infinity WiFi thermostat the salesman and installer came to the trailer. After a few minutes of looking at the air exchange system the installer says he can’t make the Infinity thermostat work because we have the wrong air exchange system installed. He can’t make it work to control humidity.

He goes on to say the air exchange cabinet we should have gotten is too big to fit in the space we have and puts everything back the way it was. He also explains he thinks he “can make it work” with some other thermostat and it will be “adequate”.

I tell him I didn’t pay for adequate or some rigged up hybrid collection of mismatched equipment. He leaves saying he will have to look into “what he can do for me” —— like he’s doing me a big effing favor.

I get on Google and figure out which Carrier air exchange will match the heat pump unit we have and the Infinity thermostat. Which, by the way, is then all part of the Infinity series of equipment that is matched to work together. As I was told I would get originally.

I email this information to the salesman and he calls me back a few minutes later. Now they have decided they can make it work and have scheduled Friday to come out, take out the air exchange cabinet they installed in the trailer and install the new one along with the proper WiFi thermostat. All for the same price originally quoted.

The installer blames the salesman and the salesman blames the factory people who told him the equipment would work. Etc.

I don’t know how it all got screwed up but I shouldn’t have to take a crash course in HVAC to sort it out for them. I wonder how many people just accept what they are sold and end up wasting money?

It would do absolutely no good to have a state of the art heat pump matched with a thermostat and blower system that doesn’t use the full potential of the heat pump to control temperature and humidity.

#TheBigMove #HeatPump
Dumpster diving on my birthday yesterday. We stayed a bit longer than the day before and the humidity was still very brutal. We are making great progress but it is slow work.

I will be staying at the trailer today to chaperone the HVAC guys replacing our blower cabinet. Again. Maybe this time they will get it right. I think humidity control will really make a difference. Especially in mornings when the temperature is cool but the humidity inside is above 55% as it is this morning. It feels clammy.

I think the system cools the air so fast it doesn’t have time to remove the moisture from the air. The system we are supposed to get today will run at a slower compressor speed to cool just enough to remove the humidity.

#HeatPump
As predicted I spent the better part of yesterday hanging around the trailer while yet another air handler was installed in our home.

So far it seems to work much better than anything we’ve had so far. It does a great job of keeping the humidity down and the temperature stayed fairly consistent to the setting. Yesterday wasn’t as hot as it has been so I shall await a final verdict until we’ve had a bit more experience, but I have hope it will work out.

I am so glad we have an affordable #HeatPump system. We have some neighbors who don’t (or they can’t afford to run it) and I feel bad for them in this heat. I really can’t imagine how I would survive sitting outside to catch a cool breeze in this heat and humidity.
